Hearty Smoked Sausage Stew

1 lb. dried kidney beans

1–46oz can chicken broth or your own{3-4 C. s}

2 C. water

1 lb. smoked sausage, sliced

1 C.  barley

2 bay leaves

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1 tsp. thyme

 

The night before, rinse beans, place in alg bowl with plenty of water to cover, & soak overnight.   Drain & rinse beans. Put all ingredients in a large crock pot, stir cover, & cook on low for 8-10 hours.
