Air Fryer Steak Katsu
Air Fryer Steak Katsu
1 strip steak, about 12 oz. and about 1 inch thick
Kosher salt freshly ground black pepper
1/2 C. all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, beaten
1 C. panko breadcrumbs
Neutral oil spray
Rice for serving
Sliced green onions for garnish
1/4 C. ketchup
1/4 C. Heinz chili sauce
2 T. Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp. Dijon mustard
2 tsp. apple cider vinegar
1 tsp. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. celery salt
Fresh black pepper
1 to 2 T. water as needed
Place the steak between two pieces of plastic wrap and gently pound to about 1/2 inch thick – season both sides with salt and pepper. Put the flour in one shallow dish, the eggs in a 2nd, and the panko in a third. Dredge the steak in flour and shake off the excess, dip into the egg mixture, then press firmly into the panko so it’s fully coated. Preheat air fryer at 400 degrees. Spray both sides of the steak lightly with oil, and cook 8 – 10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and about medium inside. Stir together the ketchup, Worcestershire, soy sauce, sugar and Dijon – mix well. Rest the steak 3 minutes, then slice into strips and serve over rice with the sauce drizzled over the top – garnish with green onions.
