1 C. Dried Beans, soaked overnight and drained

4 C. Water

4 C. liquid – Stock, Broth, Water + Bouillon Cubes, or more water if there is nothing else in the larder

2 C. Tomato Sauce, Tomato Juice, V8 Juice or Canned Crushed Tomatoes with Juice

1-2 Onions, chopped or ½ – 1 C. Dehydrated Chopped Onion

1 tsp. Dried Oregano, Basil or Thyme

¼ C. uncooked Pasta (macaroni, shells, ziti, bowties, penne, etc.)

1/8 C. Barley

Add all ingredients except pasta and barley to a large pot with a lid. Stir, cover and cook on medium-low for 2 hours. Check beans, if they are starting to get tender, add pasta and barley and continue to cook until pasta and barley are cooked and beans are fully tender. If beans are still a bit hard at 2 hours, re-cover and cook another 30 minutes; check if beans are tender enough for pasta and barley to be added.
