… little bit of this, little bit of that, a whole lotta about the kids

Kindergarten Bento #76

A week full of super quick bento ended with this uninspiring box of PB and J, bosc pear, quail egg, cheese, carrot and broccoli.

Oops, I forgot to resize this photo.  If you click on it, it’ll take forever to load, sorry ;)  This bento was supposed to be for the “100 day” celebration at school, but instead just became a generic, quick bento.

kindergarten bento 74

Circle sandwich, blueberries and strawberries, broccoli, peas and carrot (under), quail egg and cheese flower accents.

Not so slimy, Kindergarten Bento #72

kindergarten bento 72

Pepperoni and cheese snail on a PB & J Uncrustable, mango flowers and blueberries.  He asked for no veggies today, so I let it slide since he normally eats his veggies very well, although I had some broccoli and carrot I was going to tuck around the left.

Originally I was planning the snail on whole wheat, so I thought the provolone would be fine, but when I ended up using the “circle sandwich” (again on request), it fades in a bit — wish it was out of cheddar!  Ah well =)

Time taken: 15 minutes

Kindergarten Bento #71

I wish I had a way to get a really nice thin smile like you see in the Japanese lunches (out of nori).  His fat smile changed his personality, but I guess he is still cute 😉

kindergarten bento 71

PB & J, cheese and meat mushroom, mini muffins, blueberries, carrot.

Kindergarten Bento #70

No school Monday, hot lunch Tuesday, no school yesterday because he had an IQ testing thing for several hours, so first bento this week.

kindergarten bento 70

Turkey and cheese critter on whole wheat, dragon fruit and blueberries, broccoli, tomato and baby carrot.

Just checking in

Only 2 bento so far this week; I ended up sending a laptop lunchbox instead one day because his lunchbox got left in the car and I didn’t have a chance to get it washed and ready to go in time.  Today was his pre-picked hot lunch day.  (I’ve been letting Kidlet pick up to one hot lunch a week, although he generally picks only one every other week or so.  On a morning I was rushed and late I tried to get him to do a hot lunch once and he said “No, Mom, I know how much you like making my special lunches” lol).

I wanted to do a fancy cheese design lunch for tomorrow; the last before V-Day, but I’m not sure that will come together.  Tomorrow is thier “Friendship” party, and I am volunteering for that.  I’ll be running the craft table.  They’ll be making special cards — I’m cutting card stock to size, then cutting out windows in the front and gluing down clear contact paper sheets.  They’ll be making a collage with various tissue papers, glitter, ribbons, etc, and then covering it with another sheet of contact paper to seal it. Along the same lines as the Frank Lloyd Wright window pane art that I did for the last art literacy presentation, but without the extra cardstock strips that represented the metal bits.

I’m only about half done with the prep for that.  I’m also supposed to log in to WoW tonight for a group event that takes about 3 hours.  I had told the group that I really don’t like to play on Thursday ever (it’s my one real TV night.  Even with DVR, I like to watch my shows ASAP) and normally they don’t, but there is new content to conquer so they are running extra days.

So I don’t think I will have any extra time to do anything really fancy tonight.  Mornings are self limiting — 20 minutes is the max I can take with his lunches, which isn’t enough time to do anything really complicated.

Hope everyone has a great evening!
