{"id":9506,"date":"2011-11-20T22:45:00","date_gmt":"2011-11-21T05:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/recipes\/?p=9506"},"modified":"2026-04-12T21:42:06","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T04:42:06","slug":"buffalo-chicken-stromboli","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/recipes\/?p=9506","title":{"rendered":"Buffalo Chicken Stromboli"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>2 tablespoons butter<br \/>\n1 tablespoon EVOO &#8211; Extra Virgin<br \/>\nOlive Oil<br \/>\n3 to 4 stalks of celery, chopped<br \/>\n1 large or 2 medium carrots, peeled and chopped<br \/>\n2 cups chopped cooked chicken, such as rotisserie, leftovers from the night before or cooked chicken breasts<br \/>\n1\/2 cup hot sauce, such as Frank&#8217;s Red Hot, for extra spicy or1\/4 cup tomato sauce or juice mixed with 2 tablespoons hot sauce, for mild<br \/>\n1 pizza dough, defrosted<br \/>\n1 cup Monterey jack cheese<br \/>\n1\/2 cup blue cheese crumbles<br \/>\n3 scallions, sliced<br \/>\n1 egg<br \/>\nA sprinkle of sesame seeds or poppy seeds<\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 400\u00cb\u0161F. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter with the EVOO and cook the celery and carrots until tender, about 3-4\u00c2\u00a0 minutes. Add the chicken and hot sauce to the pan \u00c2\u00a0and toss everything\u00c2\u00a0 together with some salt and ground black \u00c2\u00a0pepper. Set aside and let cool.<\/p>\n<p>When the filling is cool, roll out the pizza dough into a \u00c2\u00a0rectangle on a floured surface. Spread the cooled filling evenly out onto\u00c2\u00a0 the entire dough, making sure not to get too close the any of the edges. Top<br \/>\nwith cheeses and scallions. Roll the stromboli, starting at one of the\u00c2\u00a0 long sides, tucking in both ends firmly. Press the seam with your fingers to\u00c2\u00a0 seal. In a small bowl, whisk the egg with a splash of water then lightly brush it over the stromboli, covering the entire surface.
