Dissolve baking powder in warm buttermilk. Sift all other dry ingredients together into a bowl; set aside. Mix molasses, butter, eggs and vanilla. Add molasses mixture into buttermilk mixture. Gradually blend in dry ingredients until dough has formed. Roll dough out onto a lightly flour-dusted surface to approximately 1\/4 inch thickness and cut out cakes with a round cookie cutter or glass.
