{"id":5274,"date":"2006-05-17T12:22:01","date_gmt":"2006-05-17T19:22:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/recipes\/?p=5274"},"modified":"2010-05-24T12:22:24","modified_gmt":"2010-05-24T19:22:24","slug":"hungarian-paprika-chicken","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/recipes\/?p=5274","title":{"rendered":"Hungarian Paprika Chicken"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">1 whole chicken, cut up (about 3 pounds) <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">2 medium onions, chopped <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">1 green bell pepper <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">\u00c2\u00bd red bell pepper <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">1 carrot, thinly chopped <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">1\/2 C. heavy cream <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">1 C. of sour cream <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">4 T. of sweet paprika (read the first paragraph) <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">salt to taste <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">fresh chopped green parsley <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">6-7 whole black peppercorns <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">6 T. of olive oil <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">water <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">Put the olive oil in a medium size pan used for saut\u00c3\u00a9ing and saut\u00c3\u00a9 the onions until they turn limp and translucent; just a few minutes.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Add the chicken, sweet paprika, salt, and peppercorns and move the chicken around in the pan quickly and turn to make sure it gets coated well with the oil and seasonings. Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t saut\u00c3\u00a9 the chicken, just make sure it gets coated with the seasonings.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>After the chicken is coated add enough water to cover the chicken and simmer slowly over low heat. After it simmers 5 or 10 minutes, add the green pepper, red pepper and the carrot.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Continue to stir occasionally until the chicken is tender. If you need to you can add more water but keep it to a minimum. You don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t want to boil the chicken; it should turn out to be more like fried than boiled. Let it simmer for about 30 minutes or so.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>After the 30 minutes don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t add any more liquids and let it continue to simmer 15 minutes more so that the liquid is mostly boiled away and there is about 1 \u00c2\u00bd inches of the resulting sauce in the pan.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>To the gravy in the pan, add the heavy cream and the sour cream and stir the mixture well.
