In the past it was made over a campfire either in a billy can or by wrapping the dough around a green stick, and cooking the stick over the fire.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>2 cups all-purpose flour<\/p>\n<p>1 cup milk<\/p>\n<p>1\/4 tsp. salt<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp. sugar<\/p>\n<p>2 T. butter or margarine<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp. baking soda<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 375\u00b0F. Combine the flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix in the butter, forming fine crumbs. Mix in the milk to make a soft dough. Put the dough on a cutting board dusted with flour. Knead the dough until it is smooth. Spray a round cake pan with nonstick spray. Lightly dust the bottom of the pan with flour. Form the dough into a round loaf. Make a square cut across the top. Put it in the cake pan. Bake 35\u201340 minutes or until the outside is golden and a fork inserted into the bread comes out dry.
