Dramatic play (a.k.a. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153make believe\u00e2\u20ac\u009d) is an excellent way to encourage language development and pre-reading exposure in your child. And it’s just darn fun! Period. We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve done it all \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Restaurant, Family, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Chores\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, Beauty Shop, Car Wash\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6The one we haven\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t done (until now)? <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In this ever increasing age of technology, children are watching their parents on the computer more and more with a desire to emulate mommy and daddy. So, naturally, the time came when my children wanted \u00e2\u20ac\u0153an office of their own\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. My son\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s preschool classroom has a faux keyboard and telephone and I knew they would love one at home!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You can make a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153home office\u00e2\u20ac\u009d for your child with a few simple items found around the house! We had such fun putting this together! We even made our own chalkboard (piece of plywood + chalkboard spray paint). <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

-Chalkboard, chalk<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>A few \u00e2\u20ac\u0153extras\u00e2\u20ac\u009d I included:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

– “Computer Screen” (printed image from a Google search)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

– Blank printable calendar<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

-Relatives phone numbers (great for learning the real thing!-ours have been changed for the photo)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

-My old business cards<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

– \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Desk\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is a large Rubbermaid plastic storage bin cover with a tablecloth<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
