{"id":270,"date":"2016-10-28T22:30:49","date_gmt":"2016-10-29T05:30:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/journal\/?p=270"},"modified":"2016-10-29T08:48:00","modified_gmt":"2016-10-29T15:48:00","slug":"270","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/journal\/?p=270","title":{"rendered":"The final measure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the end, I got about 12 cups of sprouts from my 1\/4 salad mix seeds.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-271\" src=\"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_1419-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"img_1419\" width=\"660\" height=\"660\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_1419-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_1419-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_1419-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_1419-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_1419-619x619.jpg 619w, https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_1419.jpg 1773w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A nice dressing for these sprouts is:<\/p>\n<p>1\/4 cup minced onion (I used scallion, from my CSA box)<br \/>\n1\/2 cup tomatoes, seeded and diced (I used a late harvest heirloom tomato)<br \/>\n2 tablespoons chopped fresh herb (I used basil, but you could use almost any)<br \/>\nJuice of 1\/2 lemon<br \/>\n2 tablespoons of red wine vinegar (rice wine vinegar would be nice too I think, or mirin. \u00c2\u00a0A more mild vinegar anyway; I think cider or balsamic would overwhelm the delicate sprout flavor)<br \/>\n1\/3 cup olive oil<br \/>\nSalt and freshly ground pepper to taste<\/p>\n<p>I whisked all the liquids together, added the seasonings, whisked again, then mixed in the onion and tomatoes. \u00c2\u00a0I don&#8217;t like plain sprout salad, but I put my dressed sprouts on a bed of other greens (arugula is a good with my seed mix, which has arugula sprouts, but whatever works). \u00c2\u00a0I had some more avocado and added a few slices. \u00c2\u00a0Nice, light, healthy and tasty salad.<\/p>\n<p>FYI, the PeakFresh bag my sprouts are in is awesome. \u00c2\u00a0I got mine from <a href=\"https:\/\/sproutpeople.org\/green-produce-storage-bags\/\">sproutpeople<\/a> although I&#8217;m sure there are other sources, and likely less expensive. \u00c2\u00a0I&#8217;ve been using them about a month now. \u00c2\u00a0The produce in my CSA box comes loose, and I bag it up in these, and I&#8217;ve been very impressed with the longevity of the produce it provides.
