{"id":2672,"date":"2014-03-05T21:07:00","date_gmt":"2014-03-06T04:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/?p=2672"},"modified":"2014-03-06T21:12:13","modified_gmt":"2014-03-07T04:12:13","slug":"2672","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/?p=2672","title":{"rendered":"Handwriting with Tears"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My daughter does not like to write.\u00c2\u00a0 Or color.\u00c2\u00a0 Or do anything that really works her hands in a way to prepare her for writing in kindergarten.\u00c2\u00a0 Oh, she will use markers occasionally, probably because they are so much easier to make marks with than pencil or crayons, but even that is a struggle.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s not really a fine motor issue; she can handle other fine motor tasks just fine.\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Hasbro-5803-Scatterpillar-Scramble\/dp\/B001R6ATZW\" target=\"_blank\">Caterpillar Scramble<\/a>, given to us by Aunt Julie several years back when I was working with Kidlets fine motor issues (now due to the Asperger&#8217;s though at the time, we didn&#8217;t know that!), is no sweat for Lil L.\u00c2\u00a0 She can thread pony beads endlessly.\u00c2\u00a0 And so on.\u00c2\u00a0 But still doesn&#8217;t want to color at a restaurant, or balks at writing anything at home.<\/p>\n<p>So, I have been coming up with ways to encourage her to use those muscles and build her writing endurance, without it seeming to be work.\u00c2\u00a0 She asked for corn on the cob for dinner, for instance, so I had her write it on the shopping list.\u00c2\u00a0 She likes to make up stories, so I made some mini books to record them; she does like to see her stories in book form so she can show them off to folks.\u00c2\u00a0 I also try to instigate art projects that will encourage her to need to pick up a crayon or pencil.<\/p>\n<p>It hasn&#8217;t seemed to make any difference yet, but we&#8217;ll keep working on it.<\/p>\n<p>Last night we were working with sharpies on foil, some form of which you&#8217;ve probably seen.
