{"id":2576,"date":"2013-04-05T23:07:03","date_gmt":"2013-04-06T06:07:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/?p=2576"},"modified":"2013-04-05T23:22:04","modified_gmt":"2013-04-06T06:22:04","slug":"bye-bye-band","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/?p=2576","title":{"rendered":"Bye-Bye Band"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My lap-band is being removed next week.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve had nothing but increasingly frequent problems with my stomach for the past several months &#8211; reflux-y burning esophagus pain, harder time than normal keeping food down, bloated-ness, and abdominal pain, lots of pain.\u00c2\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t even drink a sip of water without it hurting to the nth degree a week ago.\u00c2\u00a0 A trip to the emergency room, some medication, a mostlly liquid diet,\u00c2\u00a0a visit with a surgeon, and I&#8217;m now losing my band.<\/p>\n<p>I have a love &#8211; hate relationship with the idea.\u00c2\u00a0 While I haven&#8217;t worked the band in a long time, I have managed to maintain my weight loss without gaining anything back which I mainly attribute to the band.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;d like to think that I&#8217;ve learned some good habits and taught my brain what appropriate portions should be &#8211; but I am terrified that I&#8217;m going to balloon 100 pounds back on within moments of the bands removal.<\/p>\n<p>Which is ironic since I also can&#8217;t stop thinking about the foods that I&#8217;ll be able to eat again.\u00c2\u00a0 Some many years ago I made a list of my favorite foods that I&#8217;d hate to give up.\u00c2\u00a0 I did give up over half of them because I couldn&#8217;t eat them with the band; anything bready or gooey sticky like melted cheese were impossible for me to eat.<\/p>\n<p>The list as it was &#8212; and I can say that despite the passing years, this would still\u00c2\u00a0be a pretty accruate list.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Fresh Bread (warm from the oven, slathered in butter; esp. my Gram&#8217;s)<\/li>\n<li>Clam Chowder<\/li>\n<li>Cheese (especially melted, on almost anything)<\/li>\n<li>Tacos with Homemade (fried) Corn Tortilla Shells<\/li>\n<li>Rib Eye Steak<\/li>\n<li>Bacon<\/li>\n<li>Reuben Sandwich<\/li>\n<li>Vine Ripened Tomatoes, topped with Mayo<\/li>\n<li>Bennigan\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Monte Cristo Sandwich<\/li>\n<li>Avocados<\/li>\n<li>Fried Razor Clams (NOT clam strips) &amp; herb aioli<\/li>\n<li>Stuffing from inside the Thanksgiving Turkey<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Textures could play havoc as well.\u00c2\u00a0 Meats were touch and go.\u00c2\u00a0 So the only things from my list I could eat reliably were clam chowder (<a href=\"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/recipes\/?p=9662\">my mom&#8217;s\u00c2\u00a0brothy clam soup<\/a>, really), tomatoes, and avocados.<\/p>\n<p>So here I am, worried about the consequences to my weight, but also plotting the best bread to bake as soon as I am well enough to knead.\u00c2\u00a0 (And I don&#8217;t even like to bake! ;))<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My lap-band is being removed next week.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve had nothing but increasingly frequent problems with my stomach for the past several months &#8211; reflux-y burning esophagus pain, harder time than normal keeping food down, bloated-ness, and abdominal pain, lots of pain.\u00c2\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t even drink a sip of water without it hurting to the nth [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[6],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2576"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=2576"}],"version-history":[{"count":7,"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2576\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":2583,"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2576\/revisions\/2583"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=2576"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=2576"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=2576"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
