{"id":216,"date":"2009-03-17T10:21:19","date_gmt":"2009-03-17T17:21:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/?p=216"},"modified":"2009-09-13T19:48:22","modified_gmt":"2009-09-14T02:48:22","slug":"nutrition-bleh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/?p=216","title":{"rendered":"Nutrition, bleh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Something has been going on with my site.\u00c2\u00a0 It keeps going down for short to long periods of time, but every time I talk to the hubby about it, things come up fine for him.\u00c2\u00a0 He FINALLY was at his computer at the same time as I saw the problem so he knows I am not crazy (in this respect anyway! ;)).\u00c2\u00a0 Since its an inconsistant problem, I&#8217;m not sure what (if anything) can be done, but we are aware.<\/p>\n<p>Had the 3 hour glucose tolerance test yesterday.\u00c2\u00a0 By the time it was over, I&#8217;d been fasting for 16 hours and was ravenous!\u00c2\u00a0 I should find out the results\u00c2\u00a0at the next OB appointment (this Thursday), assuming they are available as quickly as the single test I did 2 weeks ago.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve done a not such a great job with cutting back on simple sugars and carbs while waiting to find out.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve tried to figure out what I&#8217;m going to eat if it comes up positive, and I find that while I know a lot about nutrition, I&#8217;m already struggling to balance my physical ability to eat (lap band issues) with the caloric needs of pregnancy and my desire to maintain my weight instead of gaining.\u00c2\u00a0 Getting *extra* calories to make sure I am getting enough for the growing thing inside me\u00c2\u00a0has meant\u00c2\u00a0drinking calories (like juice) or eating something squishy and soft (like yogurt) &#8212; a source of calories that is almost exclusively carbs, and simple and\/or refined ones.\u00c2\u00a0Something that will process through\u00c2\u00a0my altered top tummy quickly.<\/p>\n<p>There are few lean protein sources that I can eat in any quantity (2-3 ounces of any meat is about all I can take at once) and vegetables are just as difficult.\u00c2\u00a0 Anything really solid or rough takes a ton of time and care to get down.\u00c2\u00a0I can&#8217;t take any more protein drinks.\u00c2\u00a0 The last time I whipped one up I literally could not gag it down.\u00c2\u00a0 Unless its more fruit\/yogurt than protein powder in which case it seems like it&#8217;s little better than a glass of juice for controlling blood sugar.<\/p>\n<p>Throw in the needs of a diabetic diet\u00c2\u00a0(and that&#8217;s not my strong suit, but seems like my &#8220;ideal&#8221; food plan works there ok) on top of what I am already balancing in my daily caloric intake and I feel a bit lost.\u00c2\u00a0 If the results come back positive, I may ask for a referral to a nutritionist\/dietician to get some advice.\u00c2\u00a0 Sigh.\u00c2\u00a0 My last encounter with one (aside from the lap band dietician who was advising me on a new way of eating to fit in with my post surgery needs) left me feeling like I could teach HER.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Something has been going on with my site.\u00c2\u00a0 It keeps going down for short to long periods of time, but every time I talk to the hubby about it, things come up fine for him.\u00c2\u00a0 He FINALLY was at his computer at the same time as I saw the problem so he knows I am [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3,6],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/216"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=216"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/216\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":313,"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/216\/revisions\/313"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=216"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=216"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pcgirl.net\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=216"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
